LUCK MAISALEE

Luck Maisalee is an artist with a wide and avid following in his native country Thailand. His art studio in Chiang Mai is a vibrant hive of creative activity. The studio is also a repository for vintage reclaimed materials that he uses as the substrates for his paintings. He is an experienced print maker with editions in lithography, silk screen and etchings.

The main themes that he explores in his work are the perverse encroachment of rampant greed and capitalism and the commodification of fine art. His work is irreverent, funny and provocative. His style is raw and urgent looking like the scrawls in a bathroom stall or the mark making on the caves of Lascaux. There is a decrepit look to his art that is a reminder of the immediacy of message he engages us with – lurid and mesmerizing like the taunting call of a banshee.
